How We Started
With over 20 years of experience as an English teacher, I spent countless hours grading essays every school year. When ChatGPT became publicly available, I began experimenting with AI and taught myself the art of prompt engineering. Soon, I asked myself: How can I leverage this technology to make my job easier? That question led me to start consulting with schools and districts, introducing them to the power of AI while gathering feedback on a product idea I envisioned—one designed to simplify the workflow for assigning and grading student essays. This vision became Essay Eye: a tool to transform how educators manage grading, using AI assist to empower them to focus more on teaching and student success.
Thanks to my wife, our extended family, and good friends I was able to surround myself with a team that believed in Essay Eye as much as I did. Everyone who has a hand in the development of this product deserves a world of thanks. In less than a year we have been able to deliver a powerful solution that streamlines grading, saves time, and helps educators focus on what matters most—student growth and learning.
